Luc Jochimsen studied Sociology, Politics and Philosophy in Hamburg and Münster. She obtained her PhD in 1961.
In 1975, she became editor of the political affairs programme Panorama at NDR/ARD television.
Since 1985, she has been a correspondent for ARD in London, and was head of the London ARD TV studios between 1991 and 1993.
From 1994 until 2001, she was editor in chief at Hessischen Rundfunks (Radio and television for the state of Hesse).
Amongst other accolades, Luc Jochimsen was awarded the Adolf Grimme Preis (1971) and the Prix Italia (1984) for her outstanding journalism. In 2001, she received the Order of Merit of the State of Hesse (Hessichen Verdienstorden).
After 40 years of political analysis and reporting on socio-political issues, the dedicated leftist is now personally engaged in “opposing the adverse political developments in current society”.
In 2002, she stood as an independent candidate in first place on the regional ticket in the national elections for the socialist party PDS in Hesse.
As an ardent opponent of all armed conflict, she is particularly concerned with “the prevention of the use of military force as a political instrument”.
