Constitution

As its constitution states, the aim of the Hamburg Society is “to promote democracy, international law, international understanding, and in particular international peace and justice, and to pursue these through the United Nations and the aims and principles enshrined in its Charter, including recognition of the sovereignty of every member state.”

Important initiatives include:

Strengthening the UN Charter – and thus respecting international law and the sovereignty of every member state

Advocating a multilateral world order and thus opposing all hegemony by any state

Just and equable globalisation – and thereby highlighting the links between poverty and wealth, and between terrorism and power

Comprehensive examination of the causes of terrorism – and thus support for preventive political measures to fight terrorism

Opposition to every form of xenophobia – and thus promoting the integration of foreigners
